Ever wonder if you should have a website? This is definitely something a lot of people think about doing, especially when they’re trying to build their business and increase leads. Here are some points to consider if you’re on the fence about having a website.
You Want Passive Income or Leads
Sure, you can knock on doors, go through a call list and do some cold calling, meet people at social networking events, and do any other number of activities to attract business. However, that all takes time and on-going active involvement on your part. If you want a passive way to generate leads and business, then create a website. Let Google be the one who drives business to you. You don’t have to do all the lead generation yourself when you have a partner as powerful and connected to your potential clients and customers as Google. Just keep in mind that Google isn’t going to drive anyone your way unless you can actually be found online. That means you should probably consider having a website. Having a good website is a genius way to boost your business! If you already have a website, but it’s not showing up well on Google, then get that fixed. Seriously, what’s the point in having a website if nobody can find it? You Want to Add Credibility to Your Business
Are you good at what you do? Prove it! Do you have a great product, service or skill set and want other people to know that you’re AMAZING? Yeah, if you’re awesome, then you need to let people know it. Your awesomeness needs to be a differential advantage that sets you apart from your competition. If you aren’t showing off your awesomeness on your website, then why not?! It’s to your advantage to showcase how great you are. Doing this will add credibility to you and increase the likelihood of helping you generate business. Having a website is a great way to showcase how great you are. Write a blog to demonstrate your knowledge about the service(s) you offer. Use a blog to show why your products are so great or how they are making a difference in people’s lives. Show off your successes. Give people a reason to believe that you are not only good, but you are better than your competition. Did you close some great real estate deals, sell some beautiful artwork, or do an amazing job catering a wedding or some other event? Let people see what you did by showing it off on your website! You can spend all day saying you’re great, but showing your accomplishments is far better for boosting your credibility than just talking about what you’ve done. When I was a kid I listened to a program called Patch the Pirate. He had one song with the following lyrics: “Your walk talks, and your talk talks, but your walk talks louder than your talk talks.” This means your actions speak louder than your words. The website is a great tool for showing off your actions… so, use it!If you want to boost your credibility, then you should have a website. Click To Tweet
You Don’t Want to Get Left in the Dust
I promise you, there are people who want your clients, they want your customers, they want what you have and they are willing to work hard to take it. You have competitors right now, and they are trying to figure out how to get an edge over you. And if that’s not true… if you’re lucky enough to not have competition right now, then congratulations! Be ready though, because that WILL change. If you’re smart, you will prepare your online marketing now [website definitely included], so that your competition can’t dominate in the internet arena. Get online now, so you can take the lead when it comes to online marketing. If they get to the first page of Google first, then you will have to work to try and catch up and out perform them. You don’t want that. Make them try to catch up with you, rather than the other way around.
Final Thoughts About Having a Website
I just gave you three reasons why you may want to invest in a website. But maybe you say “Josh, that’s for a well established company. They need websites. Are you saying I need one for myself? I’m just a nobody at the moment. I’ve got professional goals, but I’m nowhere near having my own website; am I?” Great question. Here’s my answer: I want you to look at yourself. Look at your professional goals. Are you trying to build a name for yourself? Are you trying to boost your business? Are you trying to out perform someone else? If the answer is yes, then having a Google-friendly website will help you. Maybe you own a retail store, or you’re a service provider; maybe you own an entire company with 1,000 employees or maybe you are just a single a individual working as a 10-99. Maybe you’re a hobbyist and you want to sell your work. I don’t know who or what your business is, but if you look at your desired future and you see yourself as someone who wants to professionally grow in a specific area, then get a website. That will become the hub of your online marketing, and it will grow as you grow. If you don’t take this advice, then you are very likely limiting your marketing potential. It takes a little work to get it up, but once it’s up and running, then it will continually work for you and be a great asset to youYou Should Consider Having a Website if... Click To Tweet
